The Neurosurgery Department of Navy general hospital welcome you!
Introduction
The Neurosurgery Department at Navy general hospital (NGH) was established
in 1970 and became as Neurosurgical Center of PLA (NCPLA), china in
1992, became as Naval Institute of Neurological Disorders in 1992. Neurosurgical
Center of PLA had 60 beds, more than 20 doctors, and performed 20 to
25 operations per week, and an average of more than 1000 operations
per year, of which 55% are brain tumors, 37.5% are functional neurosurgery
craniocerebral trauma, 5% are cerebrovascular diseases, 2.5% are hydrocephalus,
and 5% are others. The department was comprised of functional neurosurgery
clinically subgroup, and cranial base tumor subgroup, neuroendoscopy
subgroup and spinal surgery subgroup, and Gamma-Knife center and intensive
care unit (ICU). The work staff includes 20 employees, 10 doctors, 4
bachelors, 7 high qualified intellectuals, 2 professors, and 3 experts
enjoying the special pension. Neurosurgical Center of PLA have equipped
with enough surgical instruments, including 2 operational microscopes,
one CUSA, micro-electoral pole operation system, high-speed surgical
drills, a neuro-endoscope, a rotational gamma-Knife, and many other
clinical instruments, which cost total 40,000,000 Yuan. It also housed
a number of laboratories, including the microsurgery lab, the molecular
neurosurgery lab and the neuro-electrophysical lab. The Neurosurgery
faculty practice specializes in the surgical treatment of adults and
children with diseases and disorders related to the brain and spinal
cord. Renowned areas of expertise exist in functional neurosurgery,
epilepsy, stereotactic, skull-base, spinal reconstruction, radiosurgery,
and primary brain tumor surgery, neuroendoscopy and computer assisted
neurosurgery.
Educational and Academic Achievements
From 1992 to present day, our department has received 1 Second Prizes
of the National Science and Technology Progress, 7 Medical Research
Award of PLA, 5 awards of Beijing Science and Technology Progress, and
many other ones. Many among them have received recognition for their
excellent work from national and city levels. The director of Neurosurgical
Center of PLA professor Tian Zengmin is a famous neurosurgical specialist,

of brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, intracerebral vascular disease,
CNS congenital disease and craniocerebral trauma, and has initiated
new technological research and clinical applications in minimally invasive
neurosurgery which including neuronavigation, endoscopical neurosurgery,
interventional neurosurgery, radioneurosurgery, functional neurosurgery,
cell and molecular neurosurgery and cranial base surgery. Neurosurgical
Center of PLA staff pride themselves for their devoted loyalty to the
career of neurosurgery, their selfless strive in their work, and for
